Project : Deccan Gymkhana Metro elevated Station
Scope of work : Design, Fabrication and Erection of Pagdi Shaped structure of Metro Station
Tonnage : 650 MT
The Concept of an Iconic Mavla Pagdi (Turban) tradition of Maratha culture of an elevated metro station having its own challenges right from designing to its erection work involving lot of brainstorming sessions at initial stages on reviewing and finalizing the design, deciding suitable raw material of the structure and roofing, fabrication methodology, supply of material to site, assembly of members and erection plans. The major challenge with Pagdi structure was its critical shape having bends in multi dimensions and varying radius of each rafter ranging from 3mtr to 11mtrs. Due to this complexity deciding roofing material was the most difficult task as not every material because of its material properties can bend below 3mtrs radius. Secondly, bending SHS tubes of (300x300x12 mm) dimension was also a difficult job which created lot of dent, bulging and deviations in fabricated members.
To overcome all challenges, Veritas took part in initial stages of the project to review the drawings, work on methodology of the fabrication and planning of erection program. A dedicated team of experienced engineers, highly skilled welders and skilled labors deployed on the job to work on prestigious project.
